'There was strange cloud formations over Desert Road and Mt Ruapehu around 14:30 on 13 April 2010. There was also a dust storm further up the road. The clouds had beautiful rainbow colours around the edges of them. Very strange. The turquoise light at the bottom of one of the photos must be from the camera, it wasn't visible in the sky. Christine.'This photograph shows irridescence but you will have to look hard - its very subtle. It runs along the edges of the cloud. (JMcG)

'I was visiting in Manukau Heights (Redoubt Rd, East Auckland) 17:15 on 21 April 2010, when I spotted these amazing cloud formations as the weather began to change, with a front coming in from the west with broken cloud letting the sunbreak through and light the rain falling over central Auckland. The photo shows the sun breaking through the cloud and highlighting the misty rain over One Tree Hill.
Photo was taken on my Canon Powershot A620 using maximum digital zoom (16x) and auto exposure. Regards Maxine.'

Jaz wrote 'this picture shows a white 'cloudbow' at about 1800m on the Merkl Glacier in the Olivine Wilderness area at 19:00 on 5 April 2010. Sunset in the west coming through misty clouds on the Main Divide produced the cloudbow, following a day of wind and rain on the hilltops. The weather eventually cleared about 18:00 as we abseiled off Irvine Peak onto the glacier, and we saw the cloudbow just as we were setting up camp below the ice.'

inversion fog at 07:30 18 April 2010 in the Clutha Mata-Au River bed at the confluence of the Cardrona River below Albert Town which is very typical and regular during anticyclonic conditions in autumn in Central Otago. The fog usually dissipates by 09:00 each day. Kind regards Gilbert van Reenen.'
