'This was taken (from the car) by my son as we were driving towards Paeroa from Ngatea on the Hauraki plains at 11:30 on 2 April 2010. It was a solid overcast day with no obvious wind. The clouds had looked interesting everywhere but then we started seeing these formations which looked amazing. There were probably 4 - 5 of these in the area and this was the closest one we passed. We would love to know what caused them. Photo was taken with a nikon D90 with a 55-200 VR lens' wrote mum or dad.

'Another glorious hot sticky night in Whakatane' wrote Jodi. 'The shot was taken at 19:04 on 24 February 2010, looking down the beach towards Matata from the Koi Point trail. What I found amazing was the shadow from the front cloud seemed to actually cut right through the other clouds... Upon closer inspection you can still see the clouds behind the shadow... At least I 'think' that's what was happening! Oh and note the spot light coming out of the bottom of the cloud too! Pretty awe inspiring view anyways and I won't even mention all the faces that appeared in this series of clouds! Shot with my Canon D10.'

 'Hi James, got up very early to take a photo of the International Space Station, which was passing right over Wellington. It was a futile attempt, but was rewarded with a magnificent sunrise - don't see many of those as they always happen before I get out of bed. Camera used: Canon EOS 400D, Location: Wellington's south coast, Date: 14 Jan 2010, Time: 05:33, Shutter Speed 1/10sec, F-Stop: 5.6, ISO: 200, Aperture: 5.0, Focal Length: 10mm. Please provide the full name of the photographer and as much detail about the photograph - location, time and prevailing weather. It is also useful to know camera and exposure details and the direction the camera was pointing. Most of the photographs that we publish are from New Zealand, however we are happy to consider interesting photographs of weather phenomena from any part of the world.
We are often approached by book and magazine editors for permission to use photographs shown here. We do not divulge your contact details but are happy to pass on such requests to you as they arise.
